Roberto Cavalli was born into an artistic Florentine family of modest means. His mother was a tailor and his grandfather was a well -known impressionist painter. His first line was established in the 60’s when he opened his first factory and started creatively putting denim and leather together. He invented and patented a process of printing onto lightweight leather.
With the assistance of his wife, Eva Duringer (a former Miss Universe),
he re-launched his line in the mid 90’s and his collections began getting much more attention from the fashion magazines. He’s also well known for his lavish lifestyle and uses items from his homes and travels as inspiration for his designs. Cavalli’s fashion house now includes women’s and men’s wear, Just Cavalli – his underwear line, Class - a knitwear collection, Freedom - his casual line, Angels - for children, and he’s also working on designs for the home.
His fall 2006 collection was luxurious, sexy and featured an explosion of rich color and unique textures. Brocade robes reversing to silk mink, with reversible and enveloping draped coats and robe manteaus.
