
Karolina Kurkova was born in Decin, Czech Republic in 1984. Her father was a basketball star and she got a taste of celebrity at an early age. She was tall and gangly as a child but as she became a teenager her height and look was noticed by a modeling agency in Prague. She began doing some runway shows and soon moved to Milan to get more experience. There she signed a contract with Prada and was soon on the 2001 issue of
Vogue.
Karolina really broke into the modeling scene when she appeared in the Victoria’s Secret TV special. She has since been featured in advertising campaigns for Valentino, Tommy Hilfiger, Celine, Louis Vuitton, Yves St Laurent, as well as headlining the following year’s Victoria Secret show. She was honored as "Model of the Year" at the 2002 VH1 Vogue Fashion Awards. She continues to work with the top designers, including Chanel, Hugo Boss, Versace, Oscar de la Renta, Balenciaga, and Ralph Lauren - to name a few.
At 5’11", green eyes, blond hair and a personality that is described as intense and energetic, Karolina is sure to become a legendary supermodel. Marc Jacobs says of her, "she has an angelic look with a dark side, she’s sweet and fun but looks like she could be an evil bewitching child."
She has become involved in humanitarian work and recently received an award from "Women Together" for her work with children.
Karolina is set to make her film debut co-starring with Frankie Muniz, Harvey Kietel, and Amber Valletta in My Sexiest Year.
